Airport Transport

Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is the closest airport to Bloomington, approximately 50 miles away. If your party includes 2 or more people, then renting a car and driving is the least expensive (and easiest) way to travel to Bloomington, provided you make reservations well in advance. Other transport to Bloomington includes:

• Bloomington Shuttle (800) 589-6004. This is the least expensive way for one person alone to travel. It presently costs $25 each way, but runs only once every two hours, and stops only at a limited number of designated drop-off points (schedule). If you are not staying at one of these hotels, you may need to call a taxi to get to your hotel:

  To ride the Bloomington shuttle from the airport, go to the ground transportation center, which is in the short term parking lot, across the street from baggage claim #2 on the lower level. In the ground transportation center is a kiosk for Bloomington shuttle, and to the right, a vending machine that accepts cash and credit cards. (Don't forget to take your receipt.) For return to the airport, reservations are highly recommended.
  

• Classic Touch Limousine (800) 319-0082. Classic touch offers a shared ride door-to-door airport limo service (details). Current rates for round trip from the airport to Bloomington are $78 for one person or $131 for two people, excluding gratuity (more rates). Advance reservations are required.
  

• Other airport limo services between Indianapolis and Bloomington include Signature Limousine (800) 589-6004 and Personal Touch Limousine (812) 332-LIMO. Advance reservations are required.

  The directions are a little tricky because of one-way streets.

  From Summerhouse Inn to Atwater Garage

  Go West on 3rd Street to Woodlawn (traffic light). Turn left onto Woodlawn. Turn left onto Atwater St (at traffic light), getting in far left lane. Take next left (Faculty Lane). This is a one-way street and the Atwater Garage entrance is on the left side of the street. The left side of the driveway is the entrance gate and the right side is the exit.

  From Atwater Garage to Summerhouse Inn

  Exit of garage is on Faculty Lane, a one-way street, so turn left. At the end of the block is 3rd Street, which is one-way here, so turn left, into left lane. At traffic light turn left onto Woodlawn. At traffic light turn left onto Atwater Street, getting into far right lane. Go straight down Atwater until it ends at High Street, and take a left. At the traffic light is 3rd Street which is now two-ways. Take a right on 3rd and follow it well past the mall to the Summerhouse Inn, which will be on your left.
